Finding boots that are ultra-minimalist, featuring a wide toebox, lightweight form, and zero-drop design is more difficult than locating the infamous Sasquatch…but why?  Where is the minimalist boot that is the natural shape of the human foot; a boot that brings your feet closer to the earth with a barefoot design; a boot so lightweight that it cuts down on ounces more than this week's fad diet; and a boot that has a wide toebox with more open space than the state of Kansas? Well, guess what, Dorothy? Welcome home!

We here at Lems Shoes believe that you don't need to be some environmentalist who survives on organic granola and berries to know that going natural can have its benefits, which is why we bring you the Boulder Boot - a barefoot boot that has all of the natural features you’ve been searching for all while promoting healthy foot development, better balance, increased mobility in the feet, legs, and back AND helps to alleviate certain foot ailments such as bunions and hammer toes. If you're ready for a 9.9oz boot (size 43) that can pack down into the smallest of daypacks or carry you on the farthest of Sasquatch searches, then it’s time you rock the Boulder.

Fabulous quick delivery 🚚. Shoes fit like a dream, very comfortable to walk in. Not waterproof or splash proof at all. I walked through a park with wet grass and even my socks was wet. Pity for a £160 barefoot boot.

Hello
Such a shame they are not waterproof as they are sold as not waterproof!!
had you wanted a water resistant model then the Boulder Water resistant in Weathered Umber would have been the one. Same boot with a membrane in it to assist with water protection.... hey-ho mistakes will happen. Sometimes a simple email would have given you the info required. Personally I have used both and the Russet are not in the slightest waterproof and they are not meant to be. The other models with Water resistance in the title have a fantastic ability to keep my feet dry in all conditions.

If you like wet socks

I was so pleased to buy Lems in the UK. I'm a size 6, went for the 6.5 and they fit really well. I took a walk on wet grass today and if you like wet socks these are the shoes for you. I'm completely stunned at £160 per pop these aren't even water resistant. What a pity as its such a great design, really nice fit and super comfy to walk in.

Super comfortable boot. Excellent service.

I bought the leather Boulder Boots in Russet, and am very pleased with them. They were super comfortable right out of the box. I wasn’t looking for a true barefoot boot, but wanted zero drop and good toe spread room. I’ve only had them a short time, so can’t comment on wear or how they’ll hold up in wet or muddy conditions.

I’m usually a size UK4/EU37, so ordered these in a UK 4.5 and 5. The 4.5’s were a good fit with thinner socks, or if you want to remove the footbed. However, I decided to go with the 5’s, as these had enough room for me to replace the footbed with a Birkenstock footbed (I like the metatarsal support), and wear Correct Toes and thick hiking socks for winter. I guess they’ll never be considered the most stylish of footwear, but they don’t look too “pasty”-like compared to other wide toebox footwear.

Service was excellent, and they were dispatched the same day by Royal Mail. I had to pay for the return postage for the unwanted pair of boots, but a returns bag was included in the parcel, and the refund was processed the very same day Footworks received them.

The main negative of buying these boots is that I no longer want to wear any of my other shoes!

Some notes on sizing and style

I'm usually an 8.5, European, and was pleased to even be able to get that as I'm usually faced with the choice of too-tight 8 or too-loose 9. Actually, 8.5 wasn't wide enough for my wide feet and didn't leave me much room beyond the big toe either.

The advice to go a whole size up is right. For the first time in my life, I'm wearing 9.5 shoes and they're fine. They don't look like clown shoes, they feel very comfortable and there'll be room for a thicker sock if I want one. That said, they are only just wide enough for my feet and I'd love i if Lems would make an extra wide version of these and/or their Primals. Healthy sales of the few other ultra-wide shoes out there prove there's a market for them.

On style, I like the way they look, but I'm wondering why Lems decided to change from the shinier leather to this more matt appearance. It doesn't seem to me quite as attractive, but I guess the look might improve as they wear in. They're still super nice boots.
